PALO SANTO Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”. It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon. BENEFITS OF PALO SANTO Palo Santo is traditionally used as a natural remedy for colds and flu, as well as symptoms of stress. It is also known to relieve asthma, headaches, anxiety, depression, and reduce inflammation. When used for smudging or burning, palo santo can eliminate negative energy, creating a calmer, more tranquil space. Set an intention about what you want to clear out of your space, then move from corner to corner, removing any bad energy, uplifting your spirit, and filling your home with good fortune. HOW TO USE PALO SANTO STICKS Use a candle, match or lighter to ignite your stick of Palo Santo. Hold at about a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down toward the flame. Allow it to burn for about 30 secs to 1 minute and then blow out. Move about your workspace, home, car, bathroom or anywhere you would like to clear the energy. The Palo Santo stick may be reused over and over again, which means an endless amount of cleansing is at your fingertips. When you’re ready to put out the palo santo, grind the lit tip into a fireproof surface that won’t melt or leave behind any unsightly marks. A thin layer of sand or ashes will help snuff the wood faster. Check to make sure the stick has stopped burning before you walk away and leave it unattended.
